I am currently an independent consultant, providing technical and business consulting on retail forecasting --mainly Retek's Retail Demand Forecasting (RDF) package. I have also worked in demand and capacity forecasting in the telecommunications industry.
Before going independent, I was a product consultant and solutions architect for Retek Inc., specializing in retail demand forecasting and supply chain optimization. As a consultant, I have worked with Fortune Global 500 retailers in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. During that time, I architected the design and led the development of several multimillion-dollar supply chain software deployments (OLAP/Data mining).
I was also a developer at Retek (in Atlanta, Georgia) working on the server side of their industry-leading analytics and predictive solutions OLAP software suite. Before that, in 1999, I worked for Engineering Technology Associates Inc. (Detroit, MI), where I developed and analyzed Finite Element Models of automobile passenger safety systems and structures.
I have served as a Second Lieutenant in the Greek Army from 1996 to 1998. As the only aerospace engineer on staff, I supervised the emergency inspection and maintenance, application of modifications and OEM technical directives on all Greek Army Aviation aircraft (about 220). During my service, I also designed and developed a number of database systems to handle parts tracking and supply chain management.
My formal training is in Aerospace Engineering --to be exact, computational modeling as applied to fluid mechanics.
In the course of my career, I have become proficient in several programming languages and software systems, listed below.
- OLAP application design and architecture (Acumate and proprietary systems).
- Programming languages: C/C++, Java, Python, PHP, Bourne and Korn Shell scripting.
- Administration and maintainance of Solaris, Linux, AIX, HPUX, Windows and Macintosh.
- Web development: DB-based web apps, Servlets, XHTML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- RDMBS Databases: MySQL, Oracle, MS Access.
- Problem-solving applications: Mathematica, Matlab, LABView, Excel.
